Ireland forestry company Coillte has been boosted with additional funding for the delivery of its national mountain-bike (MTB) centres.
Support has been secured from the Rural Regeneration and and Development Fund to complete the remaining phases on the centres at Coolaney, Ballinastoe, Ballyhoura, Slieve Blooms and Ticknock.
The project, worth over €13 million, will also involve the design and construction of more than 300kms of MTB trails, car-parking, visitor buildings, signage and waymarking.
A review will be completed of existing trail design and layout at each site, followed by a detailed design stage and the construction phase.
The scheme will be delivered over a three year period.
