Irish Water is progressing work on its national Leakage Reduction Programme, with work set to begin in County Laois next week.
Over 2.5km of ageing water mains will be replaced with high density polyethylene (plastic) pipes in Ballyfin, starting on 17 June. These works will take place between L2112 and L1077.
Ward and Burke Construction will be on hand to complete the works by August.
When complete, the new mains will provide a more reliable water supply for all customers on the public water supply, resulting in reduced leakage on the network.
