A series of water main improvement works has begun in Dundalk, Co Louth, as Irish Water looks to improve the supply for local customers.
Approximately 700 metres of ageing mains on the Dublin Road will be replaced with high density plastic pipes.
GMC Utilities is delivering the work between the junctions with the Old Golf Links Road and the Marlbog Road under Irish Water's national Leakage Reduction Programme.
The works will also involve laying new water service connections from the public water main in the road to customers' property boundaries and connecting it to the customers' water supply. Where the existing service connections on the public side are lead these will be replaced as part of this improvement work.
Work is expected to be complete by July.
