Surveying and site investigations are progressing on the Thurles water supply in County Tipperary ahead of scheduled construction work in the coming weeks.
These preparatory works will assess which mains will be replaced in the Bohernanave, Sean Tracey Avenue and Innisfallen Avenue areas of the town.
Shareridge is working on both stages of the project, which will see back yard water mains replaced with modern high density polyethylene (HDPE) plastic pipes and new service connections installed for a number of customers in the area.
Around 1.8km of old water mains and over 360 connections to individual properties will be replaced throughout the project.
These works will ensure a safer, more reliable water supply, as well as reductions in the high levels of leakage.
Irish Water is delivering the project in collaboration with Tipperary County Council.
