A key road heading into Newry is set to close for upgrades later this month.
The A2 Warrenpoint Road dual carriageway will undergo £450,000 works to improve a 1.1km section of the surface. This will take place from the Mound Road roundabout towards Newry.
Work will begin on the scheme on Monday 14 October and run until Monday 02 December.
Lane One and the hard shoulder will close from Monday 14 October until Sunday 03 November, and will be followed by the closure of Lane Two from Monday 04 November until Friday 14 November.
A further three weekend closures will be implemented from Mound Road roundabout to Aughnamoira Road between 7pm and 6am from Friday 15 November until Monday 18 November; Friday 22 November until Monday 25 November; and Friday 29 November until Monday 02 December. During these times a diversion will be in place via A2 Newry Road – Duke Street – Upper Dromore Road – Milltown Road – Bridge Road – Chapel Hill Road and Newry Road.
Drivers should expect some delays and are advised to leave additional time when planning any journeys.
