The County Dublin village of Lucan has become the new home to a state-of-the-art athletics track.
An athletics track rejuvenation project was delivered on the facility in Lucan as part of the Sports Capital Grant Programme funded by the Department of Transport, Tourism and Sport and supported by Lucan Harriers Athletics Club.
Mayor of South Dublin County Council, Councillor Vicki Casserly visited the site last month to officially open the refurbished Lucan Athletic Track.
Speaking at the event Mayor Cllr Vicki Casserly said: "This opening ceremony marks the delivery of a significant project for the whole community, helping to promote better physical and mental health in line with South Dublin County Council's Corporate Plan.
"This athletics track rejuvenation project has been delivered as part of the Sports Capital Programme funded by the Department of Transport, Tourism and Sport; which aims to provide grants to assist in the development or refurbishment of sports facilities and the provision of sports equipment. It has also been part delivered by the monumental fund-raising efforts of the Lucan Harriers Athletics Club members."
South Dublin County Council is responsible for the delivery of the project and the continued maintenance of the facilities.
