The facilities will be improved through the next phase of Mid Ulster District Council's investment programme in leisure services.
Work will involve replacing equipment in the suite, including existing treadmills and cross trainers. It will also include the addition of new CV (cardiovascular) and strength equipment including step mills and Jacobs ladders; the redesign of the functional and HIIT training areas; installation of new flooring and redecoration of the space, with the gym closing temporarily for two weeks to facilitate the upgrade.

Welcoming the investment, Chair of Mid Ulster District Council's Development Committee, Councillor Trevor Wilson said: "We're committed to offering the best facilities to our customers so these refurbishment works are absolutely essential as modern fitness trends and expectations evolve. I am pleased that we are able to improve the fitness suite facilities at Cookstown Leisure Centre still further, which will benefit the health and wellbeing of all its users. We apologise for the brief closure of the fitness suite, but assure all our customers that they will see the benefits of our investment as soon as it reopens."
Refurbishment work will begin towards the end of November.
