A meeting has been organised to help shape plans for a new floodlit 3G MUGA pitch and a potential new grass football pitch in Portglenone.
Mid and East Antrim Borough Council will liaise with key stakeholders to discuss the location of the development.
The local community came out in force to support a recent consultation, in which a preference was identified for a floodlit 3G MUGA compared to a full size grass football pitch.
The location however was not conclusive and council officers are now making plans to meet with the local community group, a local primary school and elected members.
Welcoming the progress, Alderman Tommy Nicholl MBE said: "The community are very keen to get this provision in place.
"If the community has access to a state of the art facility then it will undoubtedly contribute to the increasing numbers participating in sport and physical activity.
"A new pitch will act as hub for the community, encouraging more active lifestyle choices and creating a space for groups and teams to come together and socialise through sport."
Following the meetings the results will be collated and an informed decision can be made on the location of the new facilities.
