A World Forum on Nearly Energy Zero Buildings (nZEB) is taking place in Dún Laoghaire this week with full support from the local council.
This conference will focus on delivery of the UN Sustainable Development Goals, with special emphasis on energy, buildings and sustainable cities.
Scott Foster, who manages the energy team for the UN's Economic Commission for Europe, is serving as the keynote speaker.
Today, 13 November, Dún Laoghaire Rathdown County Council has arranged site visits to award winning social housing retrofit EnerPhit Rochestown House and the A1 rated rapid build housing at George's Place, Dún Laoghaire. Expert hands-on demonstrations will take place in the three track workshops taking place in dlr County Hall, Dún Laoghaire.
The nZEB Conference will take place tomorrow, 14 November, at Fitzpatrick Castle, Killiney. It will feature case studies, policy sessions and inspiring insights from world class thought leaders in high performance buildings, including Richard Yancey, Lois Arena, Jenna Cramer and Isaac Smith from New York City, Ron Van Erck from Amsterdam, Germán Velázquez Arizmendi from Spain.
The nZEB standard became mandatory in Ireland since 01 November 2019 and must be implemented right across the EU by the end of 2020. The central objective of the NZEB policy is to significantly reduce the energy demand and carbon emissions from buildings, whilst also harnessing renewable energy technologies: new-build and retrofit, residential and commercial.
