A deal has been struck for the construction of 10 new homes in Mallow, Co Cork.

BPH Construction secured a contract from Cork County Council to deliver the project at Forest View Mallow.

This €2.1 million scheme will see the construction of a mix of one and two bedroom houses.

Welcoming the progress, Mayor of the County of Cork Cllr Christopher O'Sullivan said: "The provision of homes is central to everything we do in Cork County Council. These homes will allow people to settle into the growing community of Mallow and meaningfully participate in life in North Cork. We have ambitious plans for Mallow, and providing housing is essential to sustainable growth in the area."

Chief Executive of Cork County Council Tim Lucey added: "This Council led housing project goes hand in hand with our ongoing works on Mallow bridge and our extensive plans for Mallow Castle Park, Mallow Town Park and the Spa House Park to ensure Mallow's sustainable growth into the future. Mallow is a designated 'hub' town under the National Spatial Strategy and Cork County Council is committed to ensuring that the growth this entails will have a positive impact on quality of life for the people of Mallow. Providing high quality housing is an essential part of this."
