Happy New Year! Never has there been a better time to get good deals on manual hoists.
Lever Hoist vs. Chain Hoist?
There are generally two main types of manual hoists: Hand Chain Hoists and Ratchet Lever Hoists. As their names suggest, hand (chain) hoists move a load by pulling a chain, whereas ratchet (lever) hoists operate by cranking a lever up and down.
Hand Hoists
Hand hoists have a greater WLL as they have the ability to lift large loads of up to 50,000kg. These hoists are ideal for lifting high vertical loads where speed is not a requirement.
Our MTN experts recommend the Yalelift 360 Hand Chain Hoist. Due to its revolutionary design that contains a 360-degree rotating hand chain guide, users can safely and flexibly operate the hoist from all directions or in confined spaces. With a capacity of up to 20,000kg, the Yalelift 360 is suitable for heavy industrial applications.
Ratchet Hoists
Ratchet hoists are used for vertical and horizontal movements like pulling, stretching and positioning. Speed is not a characteristic of them, however, unlike hand hoists they can be operated using one hand.
If you are looking to purchase a ratchet hoist, our experts recommend both the Yale Handy Ratchet Lever Hoist (left) and the Yale C85 Pull Lift (right). While both are similar in use, the Yale Handy Ratchet is the smallest, lightest one for professional applications with a capacity of 250g / 500g. The Yale C85, on the other hand, is designed for heavy duty work with the ability to pull loads of up to 10,000kg.
