£4.9m Water Mains Improvements Progress In Newry

Work is moving forward to improve the water supply infrastructure across the Newry, Mourne and Down Council area.

Approximately £4.9 million is being invested to upgrade 47km of watermains in Newry, Kilkeel, Mayobridge, Rathfriland and Hilltown.

Work will get underway later this month in Mayobridge and Rathfriland, with work to follow elsewhere in the next two years.

These works will improve the quality, reliability and security of the local water supply, while reducing leakage and improving pressure in the area.

This NI Water project forms part of an overall programme of work to improve water mains throughout the wider area until 2022/23.

Meridian Utilities Ltd will serve as the utility's contractor for this essential programme of work.
