A programme of water supply infrastructure upgrades is to get underway under the control of contractor Farrans.
The firm has been selected by NI Water to lead upgrades throughout Ballyclare, Doagh, Randalstown, Kells, Toome, Ahoghill and Bushmills.
Approximately £2.7 million is being invested in the programme, which will launch in the Bushmills and Randalstown areas at the end of April.
It will involve improving 27km of water mains throughout the areas until early 2022.
Once complete, these works will improve the quality, reliability and security of the local water supply, while reducing leakage and improving pressure in the area.
NI Water is also calling for further investment in water and sewerage infrastructure and this project is an example of what can be done when the necessary funding is in place.
