SDLP Welcomes A5 Upgrade Announcement

The SDLP has welcomed the announcement that Infrastructure Minister Nichola Mallon is pushing ahead with plans for the A5 upgrade scheme in Tyrone.

West Tyrone MLA Daniel McCrossan said the "A5 is a critical project that will help deliver local jobs, increase connectivity and save countless lives on our roads".

He said: "The scheme has been blighted with delays spanning a full decade where successive Ministers were unable to advance the project. I am delighted that the Minister is forging ahead with plans to deliver regional economic balance for people in Tyrone.

"Following extensive engagement with SDLP representatives, I am pleased that the Minister has confirmed both phases of the A5 works will commence together.”

"I welcome the fact Minister Mallon has now received the Public Enquiry Report and I look forward to an update on progress in coming weeks."
