Horizon Engineering has teamed up with Antrim and Newtownabbey Borough Council on a pilot project to support the employability skills for people in the electrical engineering industry.
Horizon Engineering has developed two training courses which provide the necessary underpinning safety, legal, technical, operational and procedural background knowledge for people wishing to further their electrical engineering careers.
As part of the pilot, the Council is offering support to up to six employers within the Borough who wish to take part in the course by contributing 40% of the total £1,200 course fee.
Mayor of Antrim and Newtownabbey, Councillor Jim Montgomery said: "There is no doubt that our economy has been significantly impacted as a result of COVID19. As a Council, we are committed to developing the right mix of skills across our Borough and will continue to seek opportunities that support the recovery of our local economy and secure a more prosperous future."
