A total of £70,000 has been allocated to carry out improvement works at Fivemiletown Recycling Centre in Mid Ulster.
The centre will be closed for approximately 6 weeks, from Monday 2 November to Monday 14 December.
Improvement works on the site will include:
• Vegetation clearance
• Drainage works including installation of manholes and channel drainage
• Installation a full retention oil interceptor (including sheet piling)
• Installation of sample chamber
• Concrete works
• Excavations to existing water course
• Installation of CCTV and monitoring station
• Installation of signage and road markings.
Chair of the Mid Ulster Council's Environment Committee, Councillor Sean McGuigan said: "The substantial investment at Fivemiletown Recycling Centre demonstrates the Council’s commitment to bringing all its facilities to the highest health and safety standard. The works will see additional safety measures implemented that will help better protect the site, the staff and all users. Therefore, given the health and safety significance the works will have on the site, I would encourage users to be patient during the closure period and remind them that for the duration of the works, Tullyvar Recycling Centre will open on Mondays to help compensate for the closure."
