Lisburn & Castlereagh City Council has launched a survey to find out more about the recycling habits of residents and their views on future kerbside recycling services.

The council collects waste and recyclables from every home and the current recycling efforts of local residents helped the Council achieve a household waste recycling rate of 50.79% in 2019/20. However, new, higher targets will require every household to recycle and compost more and landfill less.

Councillor Andrew Ewing, Chairman of the Council's Environmental Services Committee, said: "At Lisburn & Castlereagh City Council, we are committed to reviewing and improving our kerbside recycling services.

"We want to consult with local householders about the kerbside recycling collections we will use in the future, to ensure we can meet these challenging targets while continuing to deliver high-quality services and deliver a service that works for everyone.

"The purpose of this survey is to ask for householder views on the preferred way of collecting dry recyclables such as paper, card, cans, plastics and glass going forward.

"I would ask all residents living in the council area to take part in the survey so we can plan for the future. Your views are important to us and the survey will only take five minutes to complete.

"Survey responses will help inform and shape our next steps, as we work to develop and deliver the most effective and efficient kerbside recycling service to residents."
