Sorensen Civil Engineering has scooped the Half Moon Lane Upgrade Scheme Contract in Cork city.
The objective of the works is to upgrade the junction where the South Douglas Road and Half Moon Lane meet, and Half Moon Lane itself, allowing safe passage for pedestrians and vulnerable road users to access Tramore Valley Park at the end of the lane.
Works have started on the project and the contractors are now on site on South Douglas Road. Heavy traffic management will be in place for 8 to 12 weeks over the summer on the South Douglas Road.
The scheme is due for completion in early December.
The project will include, but is not limited to, the following:
• Reinstatement of tarmac, demolition of some footpaths
• Building of footpaths, installation of tactile paving, new kerbing
• Services installation, ducting and drainage works
• Traffic light installation, public lighting
• Installation of new road signage and road markings
• Automatic bollard installation and associated works
• New planting
Completion of the works will allow another safe pedestrian and cyclist access point to Tramore Valley Park.
