Mid Ulster District Council is to re-consult with the community on plans to develop the former high school site in Maghera as a business park.
Currently being determined by the Department for Infrastructure (DfI), planning applications relating to the land propose the creation of a business park in the town, with up to seven serviced sites where qualifying businesses would construct their own purpose-built facilities ranging in size from 4,000sq ft to 20,000sq ft.
However, in reviewing the 'pre-application notification' (PAN) process undertaken by the Council in June 2018, the Department identified a procedural error with the wording of the public notice advertisement and has invited the Council to rectify the issue.
The Council is now recommencing the pre-application notification process, including community consultation and is inviting any interested parties to submit their views.
Residents living within 500m of the former high school site will also receive direct notification of the renewed consultation process with feedback forms included in their information packs.
The community consultation opens on 4 August 2021 and will run for six weeks until 13 September 2021.
