Craigavon Lakes in County Armagh is set to be boosted with an improved shared footway and cycleway thanks to a new investment.
The Department for Infrastructure is leading a £430,000 scheme to resurface and widen 5km of existing shared footway and cycleway, along with the inclusion of associated drainage and signage.
Work will begin on Monday 20 September and take eight weeks to complete with an estimated completion date of Friday 12 November.
Announcing the works, Infrastructure Minister Nichola Mallon said: "This significant investment to upgrade 5km of footway and cycleway around the Craigavon Lakes will greatly improve the surface quality and will include widening as well as improved drainage and signage. This will benefit all who use this leisure facility for walking, wheeling and cycling. I would like to thank the users of this facility in advance for their cooperation while these works are completed."
It is expected the works will take place on weekdays and it will be necessary to close sections of the path whilst works are ongoing for the safety of workers and path users. Alternative routes for path users will be signed whilst the closures are in place.
Users are advised to adhere to signage and take extra care when in the vicinity of the works.
When complete the upgraded route will provide an improved facility in the Craigavon area to encourage more walking, wheeling and cycling at this popular location.
