An event is set to take place to allow locals to have a say on the Carrickmines Shanganagh Flood Relief Scheme.
Dun Laoghaire Rathdown County Council and the OPW are hosting an online Public Engagement Event which will help inform the project.
There is a history of flooding in key areas in the catchment of the Carrickmines Shanganagh rivers. These areas include Commons Road, parts of Brides Glen Road, the N11 adjacent to Cherrywood, Glenamuck Road North and Kilgobbin. The ECFRAMS study identified parts of this catchment as being high-risk flood areas and the OPW is now funding the detailed design and construction of necessary flood alleviation measures.
Progress has been made on the project, with key constraints and environmental factors identified. Topographical data and river flow information have also been gathered, and a detailed river model has been created.
Members of the public are being asked to detail their experience of flooding and what comments they may have to help shape the design and selection of the flood alleviation measures. Once the proposed measures have been decided, they will be presented the public for an opinion.
For the online event, there is a presentation available to view. This gives an overview of the project and work done to date. If you have any information including videos, photos or personal experience of flooding in the area or any comment, then fill out the questionnaire.
