A programme of extensive accessibility and usage improvements have been completed at Killiney Beach in Dún Laoghaire–Rathdown, Dublin.
A team of DLR County Council workers and contractors have been delivering the upgrades over the last few months, which sees a number of changes from Killiney Dart station, through the beach carpark and underpass and along the beachfront.
The work improvement includes new and widened footpaths with accessibility dishing, new surfacing, realigned and improved carparking, additional bike park stands, new signage and digital information board, new planting, as well as accessible access to the beachfront along the lifeguards hut.
Launching the improvements, An Cathaoirleach Lettie McCarthy said: "I'm delighted to see these improvements to the beachfront at Killiney. Always a popular destination, during the period of lockdown it became even more so and increased popularity that has continued through all seasons. The improvements works are a clear demonstration of this Council commitment to continually upgrading the public realm."
