Construction News Image
Omagh Riding School for Disabled Centre has enhanced its existing facilities with the official opening of a new stable block.

The project is one of 16 projects included in the Local Action Plan for the district being administered by Fermanagh and Omagh District Council and funded under the EU's PEACE IV Youth Focused Shared Spaces Programme, managed by the Special EU Programmes Body (SEUPB). Match-funding for the Action Plan was provided by The Executive Office, Northern Ireland and the Department of Rural and Community Development, Ireland.

Speaking at the launch event, Chair, Fermanagh and Omagh District Council, Councillor Errol Thompson said: "Fermanagh and Omagh District Council is delighted to support this PEACE IV funded project. The investment has enabled Omagh Riding School for the Disabled Association to not only enhance their superb facilities for the benefit of their members but also to attract new users, thereby creating a more cohesive society through an increase in provision of shared spaces and services. The Council has long championed the benefits of working in partnership with key stakeholders and welcomes the development of shared spaces that enable initiatives that enhance the lives of our young people.

"I am looking forward to attending the launch of other project to see at first-hand how PEACE IV funding has made a positive and lasting impact on our communities."

Gwen Garret of the Omagh Riding School for the Disabled Association added: "We are delighted with the investment received as a consequence of PEACE IV funding and welcomed the opportunity to work alongside Fermanagh and Omagh District Council to enhance our facilities through the development of a new stable block. The new stable block enables an increase in activities that will strengthen our youth interaction and present young people with opportunities to gain new skills and friendships as well as a greater understanding and appreciation of other communities and cultures."

The Omagh RDA project is one of seven community projects to have benefited from capital investment through the Youth Focused Shared Spaces Programme.
