A project has been completed to save water in St Phelim's Place, Co Cavan.
Irish Water led a scheme to replace approximately 360m of old water mains with new connections, stretching from Kilnavara Lane from Wolf Tone Street junction and Kilnavara Heights junction via St Phelim's Place.
These works not only put a stop to clean water being lost underground but has given homes a more reliable supply by helping to prevent bursts and outages.
Declan Cawley, Irish Water, said: "Residents in this area will have noticed an immediate improvement in the consistency of their water supply as a result of the works undertaken. For years they were seriously impacted by frequent bursts but we are pleased to have now completed this essential project. We thank the locals for their patience and cooperation.
"Irish Water and Cavan County Council would also like to thank our delivery partners, Farrans Construction Ltd, for completing this project ensuring the operational performance of the road wasn't impacted, for the benefit of our customers."
This project is part of Irish Water's National Leakage Reduction Programme. By the end of 2021 Irish Water will have invested €500m in reducing the level of leakage across the country by fixing and replacing old and damaged water mains.
