Improvement works have been announced for Greenhill Cemetery in Omagh to increase accessibility for visitors.
Led by Fermanagh and Omagh District Council, the plans will see pathways refurbished around the cemetery.
Proposed works include replacing grass roadways into Sections A and B and the hardcore roadway into Section D with bitmac surfacing. Paving flags, gravel and kerbs behind and between headstones will also be replaced with a concrete path to improve access.
Chair of Fermanagh and Omagh District Council, Councillor Errol Thompson, said: "These works are designed to improve access within the cemetery for visitors. Works will be undertaken on a phased basis and in a sensitive manner to minimise inconvenience to those visiting the cemetery.”
Works will be undertaken on a phased basis to minimise disruption to those visiting the cemetery and will be paused during burials. Public access to areas undergoing improvement works will be restricted during works for the safety of visitors and site staff, however access can be arranged by contacting Fermanagh and Omagh District Council in advance.
Work is expected to begin in March and take approximately eight months to complete.
