Plans for an extension at the City Cemetery in L'Derry have been green lit.
An application to build an additional 950 plots at the site were unanimously approved during Derry City and Strabane District Council's January Planning Committee meeting yesterday, 05 January.
The plans also include intentions to extend the associated access road from the existing cemetery site. Additional parking spaces would be provided along the new access road into the cemetery.
The Council undertook community engagement to inform the public of the proposed development and to seek their views prior to submission of the planning application.
Chair of the Planning Committee, Cllr Philip McKinney, said that the plans would be welcome news for residents across the city area.
The meeting was held virtually and broadcast live to the public and media via the Council's YouTube channel.
