A key carriageway in Lisburn is set to be significantly upgraded thanks to a new £308,000 scheme.
The Department for Infrastructure is leading resurfacing works on the A30 Glenavy Road, stretching from the Ballymacash Road to Bensons Road for 2.3 kilometres.
Work is scheduled to begin on Monday 17 January and should be fully completed by 15 April.
Localised improvement works on one side of the carriageway only are planned on the section of A30 Glenavy Road between Ballymacash Road and the Brokerstown Road junction. The main carriageway resurfacing works are planned on the section of A30 Glenavy Road extending from Penworth Green to Bensons Road.
Weekday road closures will be in place throughout the work between 9.30am and 4.30pm. During these times a diversionary route will be in place using Sheepwalk Road – Mullaghglass Road – Pond Park Road East – Lady Wallace Avenue – Prince William Road – Ballymacash Road, and vice versa. Local access for residents and emergency services will be maintained at all times.
Road users should expect some delays and are advised to allow additional time when travelling in the vicinity of the works and are asked to comply with all temporary traffic restrictions.
