Mayo County Council has received plaques commemorating works which saw the local authority significantly reduce its emissions.
The SEAI Energy Efficiency Measures plaques were presented by Project Coordinators Clár ICH in December. This project was funded by SEAI's Community Scheme and represents a unique partnership between Bord Na Mona, the nominated Participating Energy Supplier (PES), Mayo County Council as beneficiary, Clár ICH as project coordinators and SEAI as funders.
Clár ICH coordinated works completed in 2020 including the installation of 4kW PV array and insulation of office at Derrinumera Civic Amenity Centre, retrofitting of lighting at Ballina Civic Offices and installation of an EV charge point on Castlebar Municipal District Yard to power the electric fleet. These works reduced Mayo County Council's emissions by an estimated 34,000kg CO2 per year.
Further energy efficiency works were undertaken by Mayo County Council in 2021, including installation of a 30kW PV array at Rathroen Civic Amenity Centre and installation of a pilot energy monitoring system. These works are part of Mayo County Council's commitment to reducing energy use and CO2 emissions by 51% by 2030 as set out in the 2021 Climate Action Plan.
