An essential new storm sewer is set to begin construction on the Cregagh Road in Belfast later this month.
Work will take place on Cregagh Road, between Tildarg Street and Willowholme Parade, and Loopland Park, starting on 24 January 2022.
This project will help serve a new housing development on Loopland Park and is expected to take six weeks to complete.
A temporary lane closure (city bound) will be in place on the Cregagh Road from Tildarg Street to Willowholme Parade, followed by a lane closure on Loopland Park to facilitate a short section of pipelaying. The work will be completed in short sections to help reduce disruption in the area.
Temporary traffic lights will be in place to manage traffic flow around the pipelaying works. Some of these will be four-way traffic light systems and therefore we would advise residents to allow extra time for their journeys.
The pedestrian crossing between Cregagh Street and Hillsborough Drive will also be temporarily out of use as pipelaying moves through this section. During working hours, the pedestrian crossing will be manned by NI Water's traffic management company and outside of working hours, temporary traffic lights on a similar push button system will be available. Normal working hours will be 8am to 6pm Monday to Friday.
NI Water and contractor Deane Public Works will do everything possible to minimise disruption.
