A new scheme has been announced which will see a footway extended and road safety improved in the County Armagh town of Portadown.
Work will begin on Monday 21 February, with £60,000 being invested to extend the footway by 240 metres from the Birches Crossroads to Clonmakate Road and Birches Primary School.
The scheme, which is expected to be complete by the end of April 2022, will improve safety and accessibility for pedestrians in this area.
To facilitate the works it will be necessary to close this road while work is being undertaken and a short diversion will be put in place. During the period of construction, local access for residents and businesses will be maintained at all times.
Motorists should be aware that some small delays may be expected at times, and that additional time should be allowed when planning journeys.
Infrastructure Minister Nichola Mallon said: "This investment of £60,000 will improve road safety for pedestrians along this section of Birches road in Portadown and is part of my commitment to increasing opportunities for active travel and will also enhance provision for pedestrians.
"I would like to thank local residents and businesses in advance for their cooperation and ask that they comply with all temporary traffic restrictions while these much needed works are completed."
