A water-saving project has recently been completed in Creeslough, Co Donegal.

Led by Irish Water and Donegal County Council, this work saw ageing water mains replaced on Cashel Road, ensuring the volume of clean water being lost underground is reduced and improving the reliability of water being provided to homes and businesses.

In total over 1km of water mains was replaced with new modern pipes as part of Irish Water's Leakage Reduction Programme. All lead service connections on the public roadway were also replaced as part of the works.

Discussing the importance of these works in Donegal, Declan Cawley, Leakage Reduction Programme Regional Lead with Irish Water, said: "The completion of these works on Cashel Road, Creeslough have strengthened and reinforced the water network in this area.  

"Not only did we save water and improve the reliability of the supply, but we have improved water quality and created operational efficiencies on the network.

"We would like to thank the Creeslough community for their patience during the essential works. We understand this type of work can be inconvenient and we appreciate the support we received while we completed this important project."
