The water supply in Clondalkin, Lucan and surrounding areas has been improved with the installation of new valves.
Irish Water and South Dublin County Council worked to deliver the works this morning, 08 March, from 4am until 8pm.
Customers in North Clondalkin, Neilstown, Liffey Valley, Lucan Village, East Lucan and surrounding areas may have experienced temporary, intermittent low pressure and/or water outages.
To reduce the impact on customers, crews reconfigured the network in order to maintain the water supply to as many areas as possible, however, customers located on higher ground and extremities of the network experienced low pressure and outages until these works were completed. Typically it takes two to three hours following restoration time for normal supply to be fully restored to all areas but it is important to continue to follow the HSE guidance on hand-washing.
Speaking about the works, Tselo Tlou, Irish Water said: "Irish Water understands that this type of work can be inconvenient and, working in partnership with South Dublin County Council, we will make every effort to minimise the disruption that these necessary works may cause.
"Customers may experience some temporary discolouration of water following the works and occasionally issues such as internal airlocks may arise. For advice on clearing discoloration and airlocks, visit the Issues during or after an outage section of our website."
