RSK Acquires Irish Ecological Business

Construction News Image
A County-Clare-based consultancy firm has been acquired by leading environmental, engineering and technical services group RSK.

The industry giant boosted its ecology and renewables offering with the acquisition of Irish specialist ecological services business Inis Environmental Consultants.

Founded 22 years ago, Inis Environmental Consultants offers a multidisciplinary approach and assists private individuals, corporations, government bodies and blue-chip businesses with a full portfolio of ecology assessment services and survey techniques.

The business works largely in Ireland's renewable energy sector, a market that is anticipated to grow significantly over the next five to ten years after the government committed to at least 70% of electricity coming from renewable sources by 2030. The strategic acquisition supports RSK's commitment to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, with Inis in prime position to help achieve goal 7, to "ensure access to affordable, reliable, sustainable and modern energy for all".

By joining RSK, Inis will be able to maximise on these growth opportunities as both companies work together to deliver solutions to this buoyant market.

Managing Director Howard Williams will continue to lead the business, supported by the existing Inis leadership team, as his 26 employees join the group. Inis will become part of RSK's European division led by Nigel Board, Divisional Director and RSK Group Ltd board member.

"Inis will help RSK to diversify in Ireland and will add significant capability to our ecology offering as we continue to grow in this region," commented RSK Chief Executive Officer Alan Ryder. "I envision multiple opportunities for collaboration with our existing teams in Ireland, including RSK Ireland, Nicholas O'Dwyer, Smith + Kennedy Architects and Minerex."

"Joining the likes of RSK Biocensus, RSK Wilding, Nature Positive, ADAS and Twig under the RSK group is beyond exciting for Inis and its employees," added Howard Williams. "This is such a great opportunity and I really look forward to guiding Inis into the next chapter, contributing to RSK's mission to support the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals."
