Operational Issues At Trim Water Treatment Plant Impact Supply

The levels at Brayhill Reservoir levels have recovered following essential night-time restrictions.

These restrictions will be put in place by Irish Water and Meath County Council following operational issues at Trim Water Treatment Plant.

To help reservoir levels recover and maintain a sufficient water supply to homes and businesses during normal working hours, water supply was restricted from 10pm last night, Thursday 16 June, until 6am this morning, 17 June. The following locations experienced reduced water pressure or disruption to their supply; Trim; Knightsbrook; Scurlockstown; Effernock; Carberstown; Blackfriary; Crowpark; Clonbun; Rathmolyon and surrounding areas.

Speaking about the restriction, Michael Cunniffe, Irish Water said: "Irish Water understands the inconvenience the restriction may cause. The night-time restriction is necessary to ensure a daytime water supply is available for residents and businesses for hygiene and other essential purposes. We are continuing to work to resolve the issue at the plant so that the plant can reliably operate at full production capacity. During the day time, we are appealing to customers to help conserve water by not running taps needlessly, taking showers instead of baths and to postpone using dishwashers and washing machines where possible."
