Essential rehabilitation works have been announced for water mains in the County Galway town of Tuam.
Work will take place today, 16 August, from 10am until 7pm, safeguarding the supply for those supplied by the Tuam Regional Water Supply Scheme.
During the works, customers in Kilconly West, Ballyfruit, Garraun, Logawannia, Annaghdown, Corrandulla and surrounding areas may experience temporary, intermittent low pressure and/or water outages.
Typically, it takes two to three hours following restoration time for normal supply to be fully restored to all areas.
Speaking about the works, Rónan Daly, Irish Water said: "Irish Water understands that this type of work can be inconvenient and, working in partnership with Galway County Council, we will make every effort to minimise the disruption that these necessary works may cause.
"Customers may experience some temporary discolouration of water following the works and occasionally issues such as internal airlocks may arise. For advice on clearing discoloration and airlocks, visit the Supply Issues Following an Outage page of our website."
Traffic management will be in place to facilitate the works. Local and emergency traffic will be maintained at all times.
