Irish Water has deployed a team on site in Swinford, Co Mayo, to address a burst water main.
The utility is working to restore water supply to customers this afternoon, 06 September.
Homes and businesses along Main Street, Ballina Road, Aclare Road, Bollingbrook Drive and Circular Road are impacted.
Repairs are expected to be complete by 7pm this evening. Typically, it takes two to three hours following repairs for normal supply to restore to all customers affected by an unplanned outage.
Speaking about the repair works, Gerard Greally, Irish Water said: "The repairs are being conducted as quickly as possible to minimise disruption to the community and restore water for all customers.
"We understand the inconvenience unplanned outages can have on customers and we appreciate their patience as we work to repair the burst and return the water supply."
