Blackwater Park in Navan has been improved with an exciting new trail.
The Scéal Trail brings together the enjoyment of reading, a love of the outdoors and some physical activity.
Meath County Council Library Service installed the trail to promote the annual Family Time at Your Library programme, selecting a picture book written and illustrated by Trim-based author Tatyana Feeney and published in Ireland by O'Brien Press.
Children from Oakleaves Preschool and Scoil Naomh Eoin, Navan were the special guests for the launch of the Scéal Trail in Blackwater Park on Thursday, 08 December.
Cathaoirleach Nick Killian commended the library service on launching this "fun, educational activity which can be enjoyed by all the family. It provides a great opportunity to build children's interest in reading while enjoying healthy outdoor walks".
The story starts at the playground and children can follow the path to read the whole story. Each board features some questions about the story and some movement tips to do on the way to the next page.
Meath County Council Chief Executive Jackie Maguire added: "It is a great way to promote the reading of books beyond the physical library space."
