A water main supplying the town of Ballina in Co Mayo has burst, impacting supply for local homes and businesses.
Customers affected by the trunk main burst include those from the Belleek Road junction on the Killala Road to Leigue Cemetery and those in The Quay and Bonniconlon areas.
Uisce Éireann has deployed crews to the site to repair the main.
Repair works are underway, and water is expected to be restored to customers later this afternoon, 04 April. In the meantime, an alternative water supply is available with tankers positioned on the Killala Road at the Merry Monk, The Quay Ballina and in Bonniconlon.
Ger Greally, Operations Lead with Uisce Éireann, said: "We understand the inconvenience unplanned outages can have on customers and we appreciate their patience as we work with Mayo County Council to repair the burst as quickly as possible and return the water supply.
"We recommend that customers allow two-three hours after the estimated restoration time for the supply to fully return."
Motorists are advised that the Belleek Road junction to the Killala Road is closed to traffic to allow the essential work take place.
