Iconic Belfast shipbuilder Harland & Wolff has launched its search for a new intake of apprentices in 2023.
The 2023 Apprenticeship programme represents the company's third intake of apprentices.
The Harland & Wolff apprenticeship programme was first launched in 2021 across all four sites, equipping apprentices with a variety of practical and theoretical skills to tackle the maritime engineering industry.
The company offers apprenticeships in three key areas – trade, business support and technical which all aim to provide apprentices with a breadth of transferable skills to navigate the ever-changing industry.
Harland & Wolff's apprenticeships are an opportunity to relay the world class skills that exist in the group to a new generation of shipbuilders.
With several recent contract wins including the award of the Fleet Solid Support Warship programme, Harland & Wolff is providing long-term and high-quality employment opportunities across the group.
Andrew Jackson, Group Director of Human Resources for Harland & Wolff added: "We are honoured to be able to make a difference to the communities surrounding our sites through our apprenticeship programme.
"With the signing of the FSS contract, which is revitalising the shipbuilding industry across our sites, it is extremely important that we are able to develop the skills of the younger generation to accommodate the upcoming opportunities.
"Through this initiative, we aim to not only empower the local economies in the regions we operate in, but also attract prospects of the youth to maritime engineering."
