NIE Networks has pledged its commitment to championing electric vehicles with a new partnership.

The organisation has been confirmed as a corporate sponsor of the Electric Vehicle Association Northern Ireland (EVANI), a non-profit organisation that actively advocates the benefits of EVs.

The sponsorship will allow NIE Networks to support EVANI to promote the interests of EV drivers in Northern Ireland. It will also enable the company to engage with the membership as NIE Networks invest in the network, connect customers and deliver their innovation programme.

Welcoming the partnership, Randal Gilbert, Director of Network Assets at NIE Networks, said: "We've just announced our business plan which involves an investment of £3 billion and the creation of 1,000 new jobs over the next 10 years. Part of this growth is related to a prediction of 300,000 electric vehicles on our roads by 2031 so it’s important that we work closely with EVANI to ensure we're doing all we can to facilitate that growth and to lead the way to a net zero future for Northern Ireland."
