Essential overnight water restrictions have been put in place within communities in County Meath.
The restrictions were introduced last night, 31 May, affecting customers in Trim, Ratoath, Kilbride, Ashbourne and surrounding areas.
Led by Uisce Éireann, these works were necessary to help reservoir levels recover.
Customers in Ratoath, Kilbride, Ashbourne experienced lower than normal pressure from 9.30pm last night until 5.30am this morning, 01 June. Those in Trim, Knightsbrook, Scurlockstown; Effernock, Carberstown, Blackfriary, Crowpark, Clonbun, Rathmolyon also experienced lower than normal pressure from 10pm yesterday until 6am this morning. It can take two to three hours following low pressure for normal supply to be fully restored to all areas as water refills the network.
Michael Cunniffe, Uisce Éireann, commented: "Uisce Éireann understands the inconvenience these restrictions may cause. The night-time restrictions are necessary to ensure a daytime water supply is available for homes and businesses and for other essential purposes. We would like to thank the local communities for their conservation efforts and we are starting to see a real improvement in reservoir levels.
"We are appealing to customers to continue to conserve water, especially at this time, by not running taps needlessly, taking showers instead of baths and to postpone using dishwashers and washing machines where possible."
