Farrans Construction has been appointed by Uisce Éireann to replace 2km of aging watermain on the Ballydevitt to Ogherbeg Road in Donegal.
The stretch of pipeline on the L6445 is prone to bursts and the works will significantly reduce leakage levels and put an end to disruption to the water supply in the area.
Uisce Éireann's Networks Programme Manager Declan Cawley is looking forward to giving the community more confidence in its water supply.
The work is expected to be completed by September of this year.
To ensure the safe delivery of works, the L6445 Ballydevitt to Ogherbeg Road will be closed for the duration of the project. A signed posted diversion will be in place and locals can be assured that local and emergency traffic will be accommodated at all times.
The project may also require some short-term water interruptions to the water supply, but the project team will ensure that customers are given a minimum of 48 hours' notice prior to any planned interruptions.
