Farrans To Replace Old Water Mains In Donegal

Construction News Image
Farrans Construction has been appointed by Uisce Éireann to replace aged water mains in the Liscooley and Castlefinn areas in Donegal.

Work to remove the old pipework is expected to commence next week.

The project involves the installation of approximately 3.4km of new mains along the N15, stretching from Liscooley to Castlefinn. The undertaking encompasses the laying of new pipework specifically designated for Grahamsland Estate. Additionally, in a separate initiative, almost another kilometre of mains will be replaced on the L-6224 Hill Head Road, from the junction of N15 and Hill Head Road to the Castlefinn service reservoir.

Uisce Éireann's Networks Programme Manager Declan Cawley said: "Removing the old cast iron mains will not only improve the quality of water but it will reduce the amount of drinking water lost into the ground to leakage. Replacement of old mains also reduces the instances of bursts and water outages. Locals can look forward to a more secure and reliable supply."

The work is expected to be completed in September 2023.
