Shareridge Civil Engineering has been appointed by Uisce Éireann to replace aged and damaged water mains in Ballymoate, Co Waterford.
The work, which is to begin this week, is to be deliver as part of Uisce Éireann’s national Leakage Reduction Programme.
Joe Carroll, Infrastructure Delivery Programme Manager at Uisce Éireann, explained: "Old and damaged water mains are a huge source of leakage and continue to impact communities right across Ireland. Replacing these old water mains in poor condition will eliminate existing leaks and significantly reduce the amount of clean drinking water lost into the ground.
"When completed, this project will also improve water quality, and provide local residents with a sustainable and more reliable water supply for generations to come. I would like to thank the local community in advance for their patience and cooperation during the works. We know based on previous experiences that the short-term inconvenience will be overshadowed by the long-term benefits."
The work is expected to be completed by the end of September.
