Work has commenced to repair a burst water main in Aughagower, Co Mayo.
Uisce Éireann is working in partnership with Mayo County Council to restore the water supply in the area.
Water service crews are working to identify the leak as quickly as possible to reduce the impact on homes and businesses and restore normal water supply.
The areas affected include Knappagh Beg, Lankill and Aughagower with both Lankill and Aughagower reservoirs running low on water.
Colette Scahill, Uisce Éireann, commented: "We understand how disruptive unplanned outages are and would like to thank impacted customers for their patience while we work to restore the water supply.
"I can assure those affected that our leak detection and repair crews are on the ground working to identify and fix the issue."
To support customers, Uisce Éireann has arranged an alternative water supply.
A water tanker is located in the village of Aughagower and a second tanker will be in place later today, 17 July.
