Work To Start On Ballynahinch Carriageway Project

Work on a carriageway resurfacing project in Ballynahinch is to start on Wedensday, 09 August.

The scheme will involve the resurfacing of a 0.7 kilometre stretch of the Drumaness Road from Tullybeg Fort to a point 50 metres north of the Ballymaglave Road junction.

The work will greatly improve the strength and surface quality of this section of the road network to the benefit of local residents, businesses and those who travel between Newcastle and Belfast and is expected to be completed by Saturday, 23 September.

Overnight road closures will be put in place from 8pm to 6am, Monday to Friday, from Monday 04 September to Saturday 23 September. The road will be open to traffic from 6am to 8pm each day and over the weekend.

Ballynahinch bound traffic will be diverted via A25 Castlewellan Road and B175 to Ballynahinch. Newcastle bound traffic will be diverted to Clough Village via the B175 and A25 Castlewellan Road. Downpatrick bound traffic will be diverted via B7 Crossgar Road to Crossgar Village along A7 Downpatrick Road, A7 Belfast Road and vice-versa.
