The swing to electric-powered transportation, driven by 'buyer preference' as evident in the motor trade, is making itself felt in the plant and equipment sector as the flow of new developments and research projects would suggest.
One to benefit from the emergence of all-electric powered machines is Merlo, distributed here in Ireland by McHale Plant Sales, whose E-Worker telehandlers are gaining favour amongst buyers working in environmentally-sensitive locations and on projects best served by emissions-free equipment.
Two notable deals have seen EW25.5 (90kw) telehandlers supplied to Murphy International and Connacht Contracting.
On the wider Merlo front, a flow of recent sales has seen three Merlo P27.6 compact units go to road maintenance specialists, TLI Group in Tralee and a number including the robust Roto model go to Grange Construction in Navan. Other deals have seen new P40.17 units purchased by ‘big Merlo buyer’ Costello Construction in Tralee and long-time Merlo user Strawchip in Athy.
