In collaboration with Kerry County Council, Uisce Éireann is replacing over three kilometres of water mains in Malainn, County Kerry, to improve the water supply.
Ward and Burke Construction Ltd are to carry out the works in late September and the project is set to be completed by the end of November.
Kevin Murphy, Portfolio Delivery Manager at Uisce Éireann said: "To facilitate the safe delivery of the works, there will be a seven-week road closure required. Alternative routes will be available, and diversions will be clearly sign-posted.
"These works are part of a significant investment programme by Uisce Éireann to improve the water network across the Kingdom, prioritising investment where it is needed most enabling these communities to thrive. We would like to thank customers in advance for their cooperation and patience while we complete these essential works."
Road closures will be in place from the 18 September to the 11 November, from the Tulaig junction on the N70 to the T-junction at Kealafreaghane West.
There will be diversions along the N70 to St. Finian’s Church crossroads. The diversion will continue onto the L4010 towards Mastergeehy and divert at the crossroads towards Inchivata.
The National Leakage Reduction Programme will also involve putting new water connections from the public water main in the road to the customers’ property, connecting it to the customers’ supply. Existing lead service connections will also be replaced.
If works result in short-term water interruptions the project team will give customers a minimum of 48 hours notice.
