Work is continuing to repair a burst wastewater main on a section of pipeline from Celbridge to Leixlip Wastewater Treatment Plant.
The pumps have been temporarily switched off while repairs are underway and wastewater is being tankered from Castletown Pumping Station for treatment.
An emergency overflow has come into operation at Castletown Pumping Station, which will result in the unavoidable discharge of screened wastewater to the Liffey. This will consist of flows beyond those which are being tankered off site for treatment. This is to protect homes, gardens, roads and open spaces from wastewater flooding.
