Antrim and Newtownabbey Borough Council has confirmed that the annual Sustain Exchange Summit will take place at Theatre at the Mil in Newtownabbey on the 24 October.

For the first time in its three-year history, the event will take place outside of Belfast.

The Sustain Exchange Summit will bring leaders from organisations of all sectors together to explore how they can help reverse the climate crisis.

Delivered by the non-profit Management and Leadership Network (MLN), Antrim and Newtownabbey Borough Council will be joined by event partners, Danske Bank, FPM, International Synergies and Belfast City Council.

Speakers will include the globally renowned entrepreneur Sir Tim Smit KBE while in-person speakers will include the climate author and broadcaster Colm O'Regan, sustainability and circular economy leader Jacqueline Gibson, Belfast Climate Commissioner Debbie Caldwell and the international ESG (Environmental, Social and Governance) specialist, Rachel Post.

Kevin Kelly from MLN, said:

"The climate crisis is the biggest leadership challenge of our time. However, I believe that hope follows action, and the Sustain Exchange Summit will provide local leaders with insights, inspiration and impetus to act.

"This event is an example of true cross-sector collaboration and shared learning, and I would like to thank all of our partners for the leadership they are showing on this most important issue."

Mayor of Antrim and Newtownabbey, Councillor, Mark Cooper MBE, stated:

"The close proximity of Theatre at The Mill to Mossley West Train Station, as well as the use of a hybrid format for the event, shows the kind of ‘action, not just words’ approach to sustainability we try to show in everything we do as a Council.

"Plus, the opportunity to showcase Antrim and Newtownabbey as a leading location to grow a sustainable business makes this an event and partnership I’m proud to see."

The event will take place from 10am to 1pm at Theatre at the Mill, and the live stream will run from 10.30am to 12.30pm.
